Tangled hair hurts us when we have to brush it out, right? It feels the same if not worse for your furry friend. Sometimes the hair is so matted, it can pull on the skin and be really painful.
A good tip to maintain your dogs fur is to brush them out at least once a week, more if needed. Use a mini slicker brush that has coated pin tips (ask us where you can find these). Also, dogs like to explore and get into things like plants, dirt, and more, which can cause matting too. All the goodies your pet collects in his/her fur can tangle it and cause matting. Help your pet out by making sure they are bathed at least once a week if they have long hair and are really good at getting dirty.
When your pet visits the Delray Beach groomer with matted hair it difficult for both your pet and the groomer. It can sometimes be very painful brushing out those tangles and your pet’s hair may have to be cut really short to get the matting out. Your pet already loves you, but they’ll love you more, if their groomer doesn’t have to get the tangles out of their hair.
Nail Trimming
Dogs nails can be a problem for us and our dogs. Dogs are so happy to see us they like to jump up and can scratch us. Long nails can be a problem for dogs too. Nails can get so long they can grow right into their paws. Just think how painful that can be.
Make sure your dog’s nails get trimmed so that doesn’t happen. Once a month trimming, should be sufficient enough to maintain your dog’s nails in between groomer’s visits. You can get nail clippers at any pet store (ask us where you can find these).
If you clip your dog’s nails, be careful not to cut their nails too short as they can bleed. The nails bleed if you cut up into the Quick of the nail. The Quick is easier to see in a white nail versus a black nail. Regular visits to a dog grooming Delray Beach facility can maintain your dog’s nails, so they are not a pain for us owner’s or our dogs.
